I love using Weld-On, but it didn't work well on the Piko plastic for some reason. The little tubes of glue that came with the kit worked much better although it likes to string when pulling away from the glued pc.

In order to get an all round increase in strength I am toying with changing to a stronger material than HIPS/styrene.

I use it for all kinds of things, but mostly basing my figs, and have had no problems. It works very well on metal to wood or metal to metal bonds so styrene to wood should be no problem.
